What site conditions are optimal for renewable energy development ?<\/h2><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>All types of topographies can support\u00a0a wind farm<\/strong>, especially\u00a0windy, steep mountainous terrain with long ridgelines that\u00a0may not be suitable for\u00a0agriculture.\u00a0 Combined land lots greater that circa 500Ha are most suitable.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Solar farms<\/strong> work best on large flat plains, particularly with a northerly aspect.\u00a0 A minimum 110 acres of flat to undulating land can be developed.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Battery Energy Storage Systems<\/strong> use a smaller footprint of land approximately 2 \u2013 8 Ha.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Located on large landholdings<\/strong>, which helps minimize potential impacts on neighbouring properties and is generally viewed as more in harmony with the surrounding landscape.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Land that is less viable for agricultural production<\/strong> can be well-suited for renewable projects. While grazing and cropping can often continue beneath panels and around turbines, it’s generally preferable to avoid using good quality land.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Close to existing substations or high-voltage transmission lines<\/strong>, allowing for efficient and straightforward connection to the electricity grid to supply power to homes and industry.<\/span><\/div>\n\n\n\n
<\/path><\/svg><\/span>Generally, within a Renewable Energy Zone (REZ)<\/strong>\u00a0, however, sites outside of designated REZs are also of interest.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
